Mesa Sister Cities selects students for summer exchange program
Mesa, AZ – Seven Mesa students have been selected to participate in the Mesa Sister Cites Youth Ambassador Exchange Program. The students represent Heritage Academy, Mountain View, Red Mountain and Westwood High Schools. Mesa’s Sister Cities include Burnaby, Canada; Caraz, Peru; Guaymas, Mexico; Kaiping, China and Upper Hut, New Zealand.
Each student will spend three weeks with a host family, each of which has a high school aged student in their household. The Mesa ambassadors will be immersed in the culture, civics, foods and language of their host city.
One week after the student ambassadors return home, students from their host families will arrive to live with Mesa families for three weeks where they will be introduced to American culture and traditions.
Mesa Sister Cities is pleased to announce this year’s Youth Ambassadors and their host cities. Ben Smith and Juliet Baires will travel to Caraz, Peru. Griffin Sharkey and Kate Price will go to Burnaby, Canada. Calista Torberson, Julia Hillock and SaraAnne Ehrke will spend three weeks in Guaymas, Mexico.

Mesa Sister Cities fosters international cooperation and understanding through community involvement and one-on-one relationships between Mesa citizens and those of other countries. The goal of Mesa Sister Cities is to develop lasting and meaningful exchanges in areas including education, business, culture, technology and medicine.
