Sponsorship Money and Fundraising

Tips, Ideas, and Explanations to help find sponsors.

Why do we do sponsorships and fundraising?

Mesa Sister Cities is 100% supported by donations. It is a recognized non-profit organization, so donations to our program are tax-deductible.  The sponsorship money you bring in from the community as donations determines our activities and determine tuition cost. Whatever money you bring in, we give right back.

Each Youth Ambassador is challenged to bring in a minimum of $500.

We will have two fundraisers we do as a group. Donations past $500 will go towards the participant’s tuition. Remember, you were selected to be a representative to promote international friendships through mutual respect, increase your leadership skills, and prepare to make a difference in your community. Ambassadors can bring in $500 or more just by collecting many individual $20 donations.  Make a list of at least 20 people you know: relatives, neighbors, friends, your orthodontist, your favorite sandwich shop – anyone you know who owns a business. Ask them to sponsor you.

Can’t think of anyone? Talk to us. We have a people who have been generous to us in the past or will help you with people you could contact.

A letter to request a sponsorship from a business or person, is a professional way to introduce Mesa Sister Cities. We provide you with a sample letter to customize and make it your own. Show your personality. After sending the letter, you will need to make a return phone call/visit (maybe two).

“I was just wondering if you were willing/able to sponsor me?”

“If you were still planning to, the donation is due by ______.”

Anyone may donate on either form. You decide what meets your needs best. Anyone or any business is welcome to donate ANY amount.

All donations are tax-deductible. If they need our 501c3 number, we will be happy to contact them directly. You can print letterhead from the website if you would like to use the Mesa Sister Cities logo.

Dear ____________,

My Name is ______________________. I am the daughter/son of __________ and ___________________. I am attending __________ High School, participating in (for example:  National Honor Society/ Symphonic Orchestra/ Varsity Badminton/and the Chess Club). This year, I have also been chosen to be a Mesa Sister Cities Youth Ambassador for 2014-2015 year.

Mesa Sister Cities program provides high school teens the opportunity to represent Mesa as a Youth Ambassador in a program designed to promote international friendships through mutual respect, understanding and cooperation – one individual, one community at a time in order to create long standing international relationships.

Sister Cities International was founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956. Mesa Sister Cities is part of this network including tens of thousands of citizen diplomats and volunteers in programs in 140 countries on six continents. Our chapter of this organization currently does exchanges with: Guaymas, Mexico; Kalping, China; Upper Hutt, New Zealand; Caraz, Peru and Burnaby, Canada.

Mesa Sister Cities is a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan nonprofit organization and could not exist without the generous financial support of our community, so I am writing to request your support on my behalf. If you choose to make a donation, we have 4 sponsorship packages to choose from, but would accept any donation amount. Your donation is tax deductible.

All monies can be donated online at mesasistercities.org with my name in the memo box. If you would prefer, I would be happy to pick up your donation. I can be reached at: #_____________.

Thank you so much for your time and support.
